Ski Jump: 1927-1932

In 1927, the top of the dune now known as Ski Hill Road in Ogden Dunes was billed at that time as the site of the United State’s highest ski jump. Women’s Club

Hoham Back in the 1960's and 1970's, the Ogden Dunes Woman's Club had an active membership of 50 to 60 women who regularly attended the monthly meetings which were held the third Monday of the month from September through May, except in December when the Woman's Club and the Book Club held a joint meeting the first Monday to celebrate Christmas. Warrick, Bill: Journalist/Historian

Bill Warrick is a long-term resident of Ogden Dunes whose career spanned decades with CBS, NBC and affiliate stations in Minneapolis, Chicago, Gary and South Bend. On November 16, 2015, Dick Meister and Ken Martin presented a Tribute to Bill Warrick at the Ogden Dunes Fire Station hall.

Early Roads/Trails in Porter County

There were undoubtedly trails traversing Ogden Dunes before Mackenzie laid out our roads but they were obliterated long ago and, if there are any records of where they ran, I am unaware of them. Messick, Dale: Creator of “Brenda Starr”

On Sunday, May 27, 2007, the Historical Society of Ogden Dunes provided a special oral and video presentation about acclaimed cartoonist Dale Messick, creator of the "Brenda Starr, Reporter" comic series. Joan Meister began the program with a brief overview of Messick's life. A video excerpt from the documentary "Funny Ladies: A Portrait of Women Cartoonists" followed, and Joan's program ended with a personal reflection on Messick's legacy by her daughter Starr Rohrman.
